Veterans Town Hall

John J. Frello - 8/20/2017

Veterans and their families are invited to a Veteran Town Hall in Wakefield, Michigan, on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at 1 p.m. at VFW Post 9084 located at 1 Lake Shore Drive. The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center will be hosting the town hall, which is open to all Veterans and their families and friends.

Leaders from the VA Medical Center, Escanaba Vet Center, Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, and Gogebic County Veteran Service Officer will be on hand to provide a presentation on VA services, discuss initiatives to increase access to VA healthcare, answer questions, and listen to Veterans’ comments and concerns.

"We have done a number of these Veteran Town Halls and found them to be very beneficial in our understanding of Veterans’ concerns and helping them to resolve any issues they may have,” said Brad Nelson, Public Affairs Officer at the Iron Mountain-based VA Medical Center.

The medical center will also be hosting Veteran Town Halls on Tuesday, September 5, in Mohawk at 2 p.m. EDT and Hancock at 6 p.m. EDT; on Wednesday, September 6, in Bruce Crossing at 10 a.m. EDT and Minocqua, Wisconsin, at 5 p.m.; and on Thursday, September 7, in Crandon at 10 a.m.

In the last five years the VA medical center has conducted forty-eight Veteran Town Halls throughout the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin.

Any questions can be directed to VA Public Affairs Officer Brad Nelson at 800-215-8262, extension 32001, or John Frello, County Veteran Service Officer, at 906-667-1110.
